The Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre roared with the spirit of rock and roll on Saturday night as legendary guitarist and vocalist Lita Ford took the stage to headline the Rock the Rich Center concert — the Rich Center for Autism’s largest annual fundraiser. Despite a late-spring chill in the air, hundreds of fans bundled up and showed out to support both an icon of rock and an extraordinary local cause.

The Rich Center for Autism, based in Youngstown, provides vital educational programs and services to individuals on the autism spectrum. Its mission — to help children and young adults reach their full potential — was the heart of Saturday’s event. Funds raised from the concert directly support the Center’s efforts.

The energy in the amphitheatre was electric as Lita Ford and her powerhouse band took the stage. Blasting through a high-octane set of hits including “Kiss Me Deadly,” “Playin with Fire,” and her iconic duet “Close My Eyes Forever,” Lita proved once again why she remains a defining force in rock history. Her blazing guitar skills and commanding vocals held the crowd captive from start to finish.

But the evening wasn’t only about music — it was a celebration of community, legacy, and recognition. One of the most memorable moments came when Mahoning County officially declared May 31st as “Lita Ford Day”. Event coordinator Jake Ellis walked onto the stage to present the proclamation to a visibly moved Lita, who thanked the crowd and the county for the honor. The declaration added a historic layer to a night already packed with purpose and passion. WKBN news anchor Lindsey Watson served as the evening’s event ambassador.

Despite the brisk May air, the turnout was strong, with attendees of all ages braving the chill to rock out for a worthy cause. The combination of classic rock and heartfelt community support made it clear: rock and roll is alive and well in Youngstown — and it’s here to stay.

As the final notes echoed through the amphitheatre and fans began to file out, one thing was certain: the night was more than just a concert. It was a celebration of music, advocacy, and the power of coming together for something bigger than ourselves.

Rock on, Lita Ford — and rock on, Rich Center!
